On your own or with an interpretive guide, discover through dark tunnels, underground caponiers, vaulted bunkers and paths layed out in the wooded area around the Lieu historique national du Canada des Forts-de-Lévis. Built in the 19th century to protect Québec City against a possible American attack, this authentic stone fort is the latest in a series of three separate forts. Hidden behind huge earthen mounds, surrounded by a deep ditch and accessible by a retractable bridge, Fort No. 1 will captivate you.
